Ramón Gil

Ramón Gil is the International Director of the Procubitos Europe group, where he´s also CEO of various European subsidiaries such as Ice Age Ice Gmbh, Procubitos France, etc. Since 2018, he has been immersed in the ice industry, focusing on international development and the constant search for innovation and strategic alliances. He is currently vice-president of the EPIA and a member of the IPIA international committee.

He has over 25 years of experience in the frozen food category, having worked with companies such as Europastry, Nestlé, Unilever, and the Unifood group, participating at an executive level in projects based on business development, profitability improvement, and M&A operations.

Vasyl Kolodiy is a co-founder of BF Technology LLC, a manufacturer of premium ice solutions. He has more than 15 years of experience in the production of ice, gases and equipment. He was one of the first in Ukraine to start ice production in 2011, and since 2016 – dry ice production, and a year later, together with a partner, he founded the international brand BF TECH, which is currently present in 75 countries around the world, producing equipment for ice companies.

EPIA participant as an ice maker in 2019 and as a supplier from 2023 to the present. Annual Gold Sponsor of the association, and from 2025 – Vice President for the next 3 years.

For me, EPIA and participation in it is, first of all, the best opportunity to see the scale of some participants, how they built their businesses and what heights they have reached, and this is what helps to have even higher motivation to move faster with their own projects! The motivation to be a member of the EPIA board is the desire to show by my example to those who have just started their journey in the Association that anything is possible and all heights are achievable.

Gavin Marks born in 1962. Left school with little qualifications and found himself working in the restaurant business from aged 19 in London’s West End. Married at the age of 24 and opened his own restaurant together with his wife. At the age of 27 sold that restaurant and bought a yacht. Together with his wife and young daughter embarked on a 15-month sailing adventure through the Mediterranean sea across the Atlantic Ocean to the Caribbean and back to the UK. In 1994 he joined forces with his father in the ice business and together they built Eskimo Ice Ltd. Gavin’s son Harrison now also works in the business. Late in 2022 Gavin accepted the role as Chairman of the EPIA to help re-establish the Association after the Pandemic years.

My name in Florin Popovici and the co-owner of the Instant ICE company which is one of the largest ice producers in Romania. Starting from 2023.

I am the secretary of the European Packaged Ice Association.

Our company, Instant ICE, was established in 2007 by two associates that have no previous experience in this field, but with a lot of enthusiasm. In our first year of existence we had the opportunity to be invited in Germany by one of the founders of the EPIA, Matthew Meredith, and we visit his Ice Factory. We have met in Matinal (a small city near Frankfurt) a few ice producers from all Europe and we put in practice Matthew idea to create an association. Being part in this from the beginning was a huge deal for us because we suddenly had acces to a lot of information that we miss: we saw bigger ice factories, we had acces to new suppliers, we discuss ideas with other members, we saw what was happening in other countries with this product. Basically being part in this association opened our eyes and mind to this industry. I can say for sure that this association helped our company to become what is it today.

I hope that in my new position in the board members of EPIA as a secretary I will be able to help revitalize the association which was affected by the lack of meetings and activity during the COVID pandemic.”

Fernando Fernandez Garces is the Chief Executive Officer of COALZA SYSTEMS & IRTA GROUP, bringing over six years of specialized experience in the ice industry. Polly Metcalfe is Managing Director of The Ice Co, UK, a family business established in 1860. She runs the company alongside her brother, Phil, with both bringing over 20 years’ experience in the ice industry. Polly is currently Producer Representative of the European Packaged Ice Association (EPIA) and a member of the International Packaged Ice Association (IPIA) International Committee. A committed member of EPIA since 2009, she brings extensive industry knowledge and experience to her roles.

Luis Remis is the International Sales Manager of ABR INGENIEROS, with over nine years of experience in International Sales, both in Europe and abroad, specialized in industrial equipment, and with a focus on the B2B channel.

In the food industry, he has experience working on both the customer (producer) and equipment supplier sides, providing an integral perspective of the business. A graduate in Industrial Engineering with a Master’s degree in Business Administration, he has led the introduction of new industrial brands in highly competitive international markets.

As part of the EPIA board of directors, especially as a supplier representative, his main objective is to strengthen the quality focus for the production of packaged ice by its members, through continuous improvement, technological innovation, sustainability, and efficiency.

I am Carolina Vela, current Project Manager of European Packaged Ice Association, I must confess that I feel a great enthusiasm to be part of this team.

I was born on the 3rd of April 1991 in Ecuador, when I was very young my parents moved to the beautiful and sunny city of Barcelona – Spain, where I currently live.

From here I coordinate the projects that day by day are taking a warm tone and predict a great future for EPIA.

I completed my studies at the University of Barcelona with a degree in Business Administration and Management as well as a Post Degree in Digital Marketing (SEO & SEM).

My work experience is international, I have worked with various industries as a business consultant, project manager and sales manager. Besides Barcelona, I lived in Ukraine and Colombia helping start-ups to reach their business goals, I also did sales strategy trainings in Israel and Spain. I enjoy working in a multicultural environment, that’s why I think EPIA is my perfect fit.
